Serenity!

Thoughts about pausing, moment of serenity….

The holiday season puts us to a grind…busy doing all kinds of things. Being retired I should have all the time to relax and pause as I please but mind you my mindset is still that of a working person… too hyper. Could be it was timely that one of my emails was about pause, a good reminder for me to slow down. Now I put myself on pause mode to explore the topic…

Great reminders…

“Pausing allows you to reboot yourself. It instills a better sense of reality by changing our viewing angle of things around us and our lives too.”

“By pausing and giving ourselves some rest, we give our body and mind a chance to recharge so that we can keep moving and working.”

“Pausing allows you to take a beat to take a breath in your life. As everybody else is rushing around like a lunatic out there, I dare you to do the opposite” — Maria Shriver.

“Pausing is more than just those quick snack and bathroom breaks between your long shifts of work. It is not your physical body getting a break; it is to give yourself a break mentally.”

And what is Pausing?

Pausing is a break that severs the vicious cycle of monotony that you have wired yourself around.
The cycle of waking up, going to work, and coming back home might not seem very alarming at the moment, but trust me, it soon becomes toxic.
This is especially bad when you lose hindsight of things that you once did for your happiness that you don’t anymore.

And these final thoughts:

Take a moment to pause and remember who you are. Take a moment to reflect on the things that have real and lasting meaning in your life.

In a world where there is so much change from instant to instant, keep yourself ever connected to those values that endure. Refresh your spirit often with a time of quiet serenity.

Find refuge from the noise and turmoil, and you’ll be able to hear the voice of purpose and meaning, calling from within. There are many valuable things you know without being told, and it can be energizing to contemplate them.

Beyond the shallow concerns that must scream for attention are life’s real treasures. Those treasures come clearly into focus when you step back a little bit and take an objective look.

Pay attention to the nagging feeling that there must be more to life than all the rush and confusion. There most certainly is.

Take the time to make time stand still. And take in the experience of being.
