Kindness!

At McDonald’s, I saw a dad who looked very down on his luck eating breakfast with his young daughter.
They were so happy.
Talking, laughing, and really engaging with each other.
Their appearance may have shown hardship, but their countenances were pure joy.
No cell phones. No iPads. No distractions. Just breakfast & talking.
I stood in line waiting for my McGriddle just watching them.
Then, the dad did something really cool.
He took his McGriddle wrapper, flattened it out, and started rolling it up very tightly.
He rolled, twisted, curved, and shaped a plain old wrapper into an origami rose that was beautiful!
Then, he gave it to his daughter and she took it up to the counter and this 4-year-old gave it to the nice lady taking orders that day. It made her day.
Then, he did it again. This time his daughter came up of her own accord and gave it one to me!
Wow! What kindnss and generosity.
I particularly appreciated it because it was my birthday. He said, “No way! It’s my birthday too! What are the chances?”
What are the chances? I don’t believe in coincidence.
I believe in the goodness of humans.
Who cares what people look like on the outside.
It is how they treat people and actually live that matters.
May we all put away our judging and just be grateful for each other and how we are each doing our best to make the world a better place.
